Danny Dowd passes

I got a phone call from old time steeler Gene Hilts this morning. Veteren western N.Y. steeler Danny Dowd passed away last night due to complications in surgery. Danny was famous here in the Buffalo area for his steel playing and building of pedal steel guitars. He was a long time steeler here who retired to Paducah Kentucky. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

I am on tour in Ireland.
My wife Ginger called last night to say that Jerry Fessenden had called with the sad news.
I had become a friend of Dan the last 6yrs or so. He was a fine, kind man, who loved Steel Guitar. I will miss seeing/talking and spending time with him at the shows.
Dan was also one of the Jerry F mexican food guys.
RIP my friend.

Sad news to hear. A couple of weeks Dan sent me a cd and two dvd with him playing. I will take care of this memories from Dan for the rest of my life!
