The Steel Guitar Forum

I got home from work not only to find my first Zum had arrived via UPS (thanks David!), but I also had e-mail confirmation of my membership to The Steel Guitar Forum! Thanks for having me, guys. I have learned so much from everyone already.

What I really want to do is publicly thank a forum member and long-time friend Pat Irvin of Kansas City, MO. Pat has been instrumental(no pun intended) in bringing me to steel guitar. He has loaned me several of his different steels to learn and practice with as well as amps and other equipment, and helped me aquire my first Zum. He has always allowed me open invitation to set in on any gig he plays including his weekly Harry's Country Club gig in K.C. He is nothing but encouragement and support, and I am certain he epitomizes what steel players and this forum are all about.(He can hold his own trout fishing, too! Ha Ha!)

Anyway, thanks everyone for having me, and thank you so much Pat. You're a great friend to me.

Welcome aboard Charlie, If you haven't found out already, there is a wealth of info and a bunch of very knowlagable[sp] folks to pass along help as needed. You sorta hafta sorta watch your leg , cause it'll get pulled from time to time...Jus kiddin.

Congrats Charlie!! Thanks for the kind words.
I think I may be more excited than you about your getting a Zum. It also means I don't have to pack mine to Harry's but can still set down and play yours I'm sure you will have it whipped and be playing those non-stop 6 hour sets we are known for in no time
Congrats again Charlie-one of the best guitar players, singers and human beings I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Hope you can make it Wednesday and I can't wait to see/hear your new horn.

Charlie, did you say Pat can hold his own trout fishing? In missouri? Didn't know you had such things down there. Must be one of them there hysterical typografical errors or somethin. Any way congrats on coming in from the cold, you're in pretty good company here most folks are right there and a few uv us are kinda owt there someplace, but we're mostly harmless. Also congrats on your new Zum, still waiting on mine, I'm sure it will be here when it's time. Heh! Heh!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Pat helped me get a 2001 Zum SD-10 25th Anniversary 3 & 5 from forum member David Pike who, by the way, was wonderful to deal with. There is a picture of the Zum in the For Sale section from 18 September. I am still feeling like a kid, which does'nt happen much anymore!

Kelly, while it certainly is not Montana, the Missouri Ozarks does have an abundance of cold, spring-fed rivers and streams. Some of these support good wild and stocked brook, rainbow, and brown trout populations. Pat and I with friends and family have spent many days together fishing, camping, and jamming on the river!
