Last night I dreamed I was about to play a gig, but I could not find my picks or bar. Does anyone else have crazy dreams like this? |

I dream about steels once in a while. They are seldom normal. Usually they are large contraptions with all kinds of levers and strings maybe in a music store or on the bandstand. |

I have crazy dreams nearly every night. Last night I dreamt I was asked to audition for Sara Evans but when I showed up she said I was too old. Somehow I actuly think this dream had more to do with the fact my 38th birthday is in two weeks. Maybe it was a nightmare!

I had a recurring dream many years ago.
I sat at my steel and when I played the first note, all of the strings broke at the same time.
Since changing to Jagwires there have been no more string break dreams.
Best regards

I don't dream about steels much anymore, but when I was playing 7 nights a week I did. I got tired of hearing myself play in my dream/nightmare but it wouldn't stop. I had to quit for a while after that and now I can't stand to hear myself when I'm awake. |

I can usually play really, really well for a little while, but then bad things start to happen - it starts growing extra strings that I can't identify, the neck keeps getting longer and longer, etc. I wake up a lot. |

I go to sleep at night thinking up licks on all the instruments I play, including pedal steel. Sometimes I have to get up and go try them out. Not sure if I ever actually get to the dreaming part.

I dreamt last night that someone on the forum was selling 5 or 6 Sho~Bud bodies and parts, all for $135. I still couldn't get clearance from the tower to buy them. (I'm cut off from steel purchases for a while. ) |

I have dreams where I can't find the stage but it's time to go on. Other dreams, I can't find my charts or I don't know the material or my guitar is missing. My wife says I play in my sleep 'cause she has caught me moving my hands and feet like I'm playing when i'm totally alseep. Like alseep at the steel?

Not so much dream of steels, but I find myself playing A Sleepy Lagoon in C6 just before I go to bed, and when I wake up I'm still humming the same song. |

Yes, I do have steel dreams. In particular, a recurring dream where I am playing my butt off, but the volume is barely audible even though I've got the volume pedal to the floor. It's an excruciating ordeal because I can't fix the problem no matter what I do. It always leaves me feeling empty.
Another one I have sometimes is that Buddy Emmons and/or Herby Wallace is going to sit in on my guitar after I play my set. In this one however, I do manage to do a nice job of playing in spite of the obvious pressure. |

I always dreamed about playing steel on the Opry with a country artist, not as the staff steel guitarist, mainly as an artist's steel guitarist. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10-aka "Redgold Beauty" |

Hi, Had a dream recently that I was doing a big show and the sound crew put my amp about 50 feet away from me and I was really complaining I couldn't hear a thing, and they said "Don't worry it'll be fine out front"

I had a dream once that I was at some VFW hall or a wedding reception or something. I looked over at the bandstand and saw and heard the greatest steel player I'd ever heard. He was a big fat guy wearing all black and had all these silver rings and stuff on. Kind of looked like a giant Elvis. He was playing some amazing, big, swingin, slamming C6 stuff. Sounded like a blend of Buddy and Curly and some really good drugs. It was weird. I asked someone in the dream who that was and they said is was "The Mother". I guess he was supposed to be the "mother" of all steel players or something like that. I wish had my recorder with me. This guy was great.

About three months after I bought my Sho-Bud Professional back in 1975, I had a dream that I was playing a swing tune on the C6 neck and I sounded like Curly Chalker. A few months later I had a nightmare that I took my Sho-Bud out of the case and there was a pad where the C6 neck was supposed to be. I've had other steel dreams but those two are the ones that stick out the most. |

I often have nightmares about playing the wrong thing at the right time or the right thing at the wrong time. My wife says I play all night "if I can sleep after a job", both hands, feet and knees moving. Right now I am dreaming about a new GFI Ultra D-10 Keyless 8x8 all black..Someone on the forum said: "Black just sounds better". |
