I had been struggling with lessons from my teacher and found out he was trying to teach me too much too soon. I found an outstanding person on this forum who out of the goodness of her heart helped me get started on the right direction. Easy simple finger charts and exercises that give me hope and the want to learn. I now am in communication with her for my lessons. I swear I was at the end of my rope when she wrote something that inspired me. Even though she lives 500 miles away I thank Mrs West from the bottom of my heart for the things she sent me to help me get on the right track. Any of you begginers out therethat face the same problems I do I suggest contacting Elizebeth West she is a fantastic person to talk to and remembers what it was like to be a beginner struggeling to stay with it. These our only my thoughts and I'm not putting a plug in for Elizebeth to make it sound like she needs all your business,I'm just thanking her publicly for what she has done for me. Thank you for all that have given me inspiration and hope this forum is outstanding and the people that are in it are extremly good and carinf folks who want the begginers to carry the tourch cause they won't be around forever. And again to all the Carter steel players I am so sorry I made the comments I did the person I heard this from is not a very nice person he thought it was funny I got upset and no longer associate with troublemakers.

Learning to play pedal steel guitar can be very difficult for some people. Having a good teacher is important. Cumulative knowledge is very important here. That is to say, to learn in building block steps so that knowledge and ability is based on what is achieved in specific order so that the student sees his or her own progress. . Licks or theory out of context of a song or application can mean nothing to a beginner. Harmony and interval theory are essential, as is patience and practice. Some people are great players but do not have the ability to teach beginners effectively. Some people never get it. Dedication is very important also. There are some very altruistic people here who go out of there way to help others. This is a great forum.
