Doug Jernigan's New CD

Post by Frank Estes »

This must be the CD Jim Cohen mentioned. Go here to hear a cool tune on it: http://www.digndoug.com/freemusic.htm

Is Brent Mason also playing rhythm guitar on it?

Yup, that's the one, and yes, Brent plays acoustic rhythm guitar on it and then overdubbed electric guitar solos. Great playing from both Doug and Brent!

Great album, unbeliveable playing and very tasteful too. Doug did his whole speed picking album live in St. Louis, just him and the rhythm tracks. He was just amazing. Having Brent Mason on this record with all the lead playing up front makes it a must have for me!

I ordered my copy this morning and I also ordered the cd titled "Doug and Bucky." I had it on an album years ago.

Doug, glad to see you re-released the "Doug and Bucky" on CD. I wish you would re-release your "Cross Country" album of years past on CD too.

GOD bless!

I had the privilege to sit next to Doug while he and Brent Mason recorded most of this album. Simply amazing the level that these two play at and to watch it happen was something that I will never forget. What is really a credit to Dougs ability is most of the tunes on this CD were cut on a single take and from memory no less. The steel is a Zum and the amp is a Nashville 400. No reverb was used during recording but was added while being mixed. The recording engineer, Greg Cole is an accomplished musician in his own right once being the road drummer for Daryl Singletary.

Thank you for that info, Ronnie. Where was it recorded? I would assume Doug has PF-1 pickups on his Zum? Which guitars did Brent use? Did he play thru a Fender tube amp?
