Dave, great playing on the new "I See Hawks In LA" record, especially the rippin solos on "Raised By Hippies" and "Houston Romance".
(I think it would be called west coast style, please correct me if I'm wrong.) I'll be coppin' some licks for sure!

Thanks fellas! I appreciate it!

John, you sounded so good on the previous Hawks album that I was forced to pull out every trick I knew to keep up!!

As far as style, I guess the tracks came out a bit "West Coast" but it really wasn't intentional. Maybe the fact that I played a ZB helped channel that West Coast sound somehow! Ha!

Thanks again, Dave

Cool, Dave. I was going to ask what kind of guitar you played on the tracks. By the way, I looked at an old post of yours to get your e-addy and noticed you were tuning your 9th st. to C# and your A pedal only pulls yoru 5th st. Are you still doing that. Could be part of the reason you are so agile on the pedal trills.

I still do that on my 10 string guitars. Sometimes I think I get carried away with those pedal trills but that's just what comes out when I play and I don't know why. I removed the 10th string pull probably for that reason. I tuned my D to C# to get the 6 sound on E9 with AB pedals down. Having the low C# makes it easier. I would like to learn more about using the low D on the 9th string. I keep seeing discusions on this forum about how that string is one of the most important for E9.
Say hi to those Hawks dudes for me!

DZ

Edited to say that I pull my 9th string C# to D with the lever that lowers my 2nd Eb to a D.

Dave rocks, I forget the name of the band he was playing with when he was here about a month ago, but but they, and expecially he kicked ass. (Can I say that here?)

Dave's a good guy and great player. I liked the cover of the Flying Burrito Brothers CD you player on. I can't remember the band but when you play with so many who can!

I wish I lived closer so I could come and see you play.
