I asked Billy Stroud if he would make me a 15/16, 12 string bar and make it weigh the same as a 7/8, 12 string bar.
He did, and brought it to me Tuesday night when we had our NTSGA jam.
I played with it Wed night and it was absolutely shocking at how much more control I had with just that 1/16 of an inch bigger in size but less the extra weight. It did not change the tone what-so-ever, it just made it easier to hold and still move it around like you would a 7/8 bar. I have two more on order and can't wait to get them.
Just thought I would let everyone know about
the bar in case you might be interested. It's absolutely awesome.

Bill is making me a 7/8ths hollow bar as we speak. He is the man.

I have BJS 7/8 and 15/16 bars. The 15/16 sounds good, but I was never sure I liked the heavier feel, so making them the same weight sounds like a smart idea. But why a 12 string bar - that's a little longer isn't it? Is there an advantage in that?

Hi Chas, the 12 string length is longer, you can have the same thing in the 10 string bar, some guys just like the feel of the 12 string bar because of the way it covers the strings.

I have no doubt if Bill made it it is nothing short of awesome. He is a great guy and I've only met him once. I use his picks and his bars. I have used a 12 string bar since almost day one but (sigh) I have the hands of a 7 foot basketball player. I can't hang on to a ten string bar. Anyway just wanted to send "kudos" out to Bill!!!!

Thank all of you for your interest in the new bar, now give me some time to produce these bars along with some of the standard bars to replace a lot of scrap bars from a truck line that carelessly destroyed the wooden grate and messed up a lot of bars.
So give me some time and you'll have your bars as soon as I get the stock and get them built, a lot of processes goes into these bars to make them what it is today.

Bill any word on how soon the new bars will be ready?

They are cut up aand waiting to be sceduled for the CNC, then to heat treat, then to centerless grinding, then the hard work my polishing & Buffing, then to Hard Chroming, then rebuff, and it still looks like around (2) months to complete. I'm making so many different sizes, there's four diffenent bars for each size, so I'm making around a thousand bars as we speak.
I will let everyone know when they are ready to ship to each one of you that's on the list.

I received my hollow 7/8ths bar from Bill. I just want to say that yes I notice a slight tonal difference, but for me its better. There would be instances where I would prefer the solid depending on what strings and what guitar I was using but for right now this new hollow bar is doing just what I want. Bravo Bill.

Bill Stroud- I have sent you three Emails for a special request for one of your bars and have not received an answer. If you are too busy, I understand or maybe for some reason you did not receive my Emails?

I've been thinking about the special bar that you want, I've got some questions to ask you on a couple of things that you want, check your email.

Richard got your answer on the bar, just let me know which one you want the hollow or solid bar. It will be the standard length for a 10 string bar.
