My good friend Kevin Ruddell of Toledo, Ohio, was kind enough to send along a contribution to the Jerry Byrd Fan Club that he thought was pretty good. It dates back to the early 1950's but for those of you interested in TRUE STEEL GUITAR TONE and the early day sounds of the olde Rickenbacher Bakelites, here is a classic example that should really motivate you to get that guitar out and practice, practice, practice.
Pay particular attention, if you will, to the LOW TONES played and how crystal clear they are and then the jump up to the RICH and clear tones of the twin guitar harmony run at the end of his turn-around. WOW!
If you're no longer happy with run-of-the-mill noises from cheaply made steel guitar imitations or still selecting your guitar based on the lowest price attainable, you might want to listen closely to this record.

Ray, Thanks for the York Brothers song.
The sound quality is what I remember from many of the King recordings.
The tone that first attracted me to Jerrys work is there.

I think the link hasn't been attached.
