I was recently at a jam in Duluth, Minnesota and heard "Loren Morehouse" play (pardon me if I got the name wrong). This guy was GREAT. It just goes to show you that good things can come out of the North Country.

Al, that's "The Mouser" from Medowlands. He's a monster all right. When was this jam? I must have been sleeping and missed it Image .

Sure would have liked to have known about this. There are a few of us around here, maybe an anual Duluth jam??

Mouser is a terrific player! All I have to go on is recordings! Something needs to be done about this.

Got to get together Loren!
How ya doing G.M.

Mike, Glenn Boppree talked about getting something going in this area a few years ago but that's as far as it got. There is one in Hinckley the first or second (CRS Image ) Friday night and all day Saturday in September. Jerry Dube hosts it. I'll let you know as soon as I find out for sure the date. Maybe we can talk "The Mouser" (and I know he's reading this Image ) into going.

The jam that I saw him at was an inpromptu thing that I didn't know any other steel player was going to be there. But I am all for organizing and putting together an official steel jam in Duluth this summer. Let's do it! Albert

The best place I can think of would be the American Legion Club in West Duluth. It's next to I35 with good parking and NO stairs! E~mail me Al with a date you might have in mind and I'll call them (I'm a member) to see if they have an opening for it.

Wow, thanks Albert, and all you guys for all the kind words. Albert, it was such a pleasure to meet you. I wish we would have had more time to talk but I wanted to hear you play. To all you Forumites, Albert did play but did not have his own equipment. To play like Al did on someone else's equipment only shows the immense talent this guy has!! Awesome!!

Hey Mike, when Glenn Boppre told me you wanted to get to the "Lavell Town Hall" the night we played but then got a gig, I was bumbed cause we really haven't had a chance to meet and talk shop. Especially since we're the Sho~Buder's of the "Range".

Keep me informed on what you decide on a show and hopefully our schedules will work out for the best.

All my best to all of you!!! My "Steelin' Buddy's". Mouse.

I've heard some of Loren's playing on a June Randall CD and it sounded like Weldon.
Very good, Loren. I'd like to meet you sometime.
All the Best,

Yes Ernie, I talked to Dennis at the Wisconsin Rapids Show. He mentioned putting one together in the Fall in the Twin Cities area.

Mike, Mouser & Glenn, maybe we can drag Charlie into this too. As soon as I hear from Al re: a date for this summer, I'll see what I can find out for some place to hold it. It's going to take a lot of us to put one together for the first time especially. June would be a great addition to have with her great voice and stage presence.

I think this would be a great event!

Hey! Glad to hear you guys planning something in Duluth. I'm a non pedal newbie from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Finally there's a chance to hear some steel closer to home. Please post your plans to keep us informed.

UBETCHA Lee, and I hope our other great neighbors from Wisconsin, Canada and Iowa will also make the trek up/down here if we can get this off the ground.

Hey Lee From way down south in Texas - just get on I35 north and stay on it. If you get to the end, you've gone about five miles too far Image . We're not at the end of the world, but if you stand on a stump you can see it.

I'm off work today so I'll make some inquiries as to what is available.

Does Mr. Morehouse have a cd with mostly steel instrumentals on it? If so, where can we order it? Thanks! fc

This is what I've found out. I can get the American Legion Club as of right now for July 14-15, or possibly 15-16. The office manager won't be back till Monday.

All of you out there that are interested in playing and when(of coarse this would be open to everyone) a set or help out, e~mail me right away so I can send you an E~mail with what I've got so far and needs. I will then contact the manager Monday and nail it down one way or the other.

Thanks to all that have shown interest. Those of you who have never been here or up the North Shore, plan on coming a few days early or staying a few days after.
