Just have to share this with you:
Last week was "gigs-I`d-like-to-play-all-the-time" week for me.First , a three day session which was done live with a full band (8 piece core band !) plus a four piece horn section and an eight piece string section . Live vocals ,solos etc.I nowadays do most of my recording at home and send files via internet to the producers , so this was a real treat for me. Just imagine playing dobro or steel fills and have the strings wrap around them LIVE.
On saturday the band I play with did a special tribute concert for Jackson Browne and we played the "Running on Empty" album from start to finish , complete with 18-wheeler sound effects on "Nothing but Time "! Yours truly trying to step into Lindleys polyester shirt...
Sometimes (even musicians ) life is good !!!

Olli,
I love those sorts of sessions also. It seems like a trend in NYC studios these days to cut everybody live. As long as everybody can play its the best. The last Hem sessions I got to record with a chamber orchestra live. Nothing better.
