My past returns to haunt me-in a good way!

Post by Dave Van Allen »

Well... I had the most interesting experience this weekend. I've detailed it on my blog,"I've got the "ZB Jeebies™"
But cutting to the chase:

Thanks to a former fan who I was recently reacquainted with, I now have a copy of the first released recording I ever played on, back in 1974. It's a 45 rpm stereo single by the DC area Country Rock band "Hickory", on which I played my long lost first pro~quality steel, my S10 ZB Custom...

Click here and scroll to the bottom of the page to hear it if you'd like.

Dave. Way cool. A very good recording that brings back memories of Pure Prairie League,
Poco and New Riders. Great ZB sound and playing.

Good gosh look at that singer!
Hot band; I can see why you miss the ZB.
I still prefer the DV8's. Image

the picture of Hickory is of us backing up the inimitable Billy "Crash " Craddock of "Rub it in, rub it in " fame when he came thru town...

I no longer miss it, because I have it's "big brother" which sounds just as good if not better Image It's just gratifying to hear the recording & to know I wasn't imagining it sounded so good as I remembered it sounding.

Buddy I do hope we can connect at Chuck's show! It's been a loooong time.
[This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 25 April 2006 at 11:59 AM.]

It's what he wanted to "hear", not what he wanted to write... Image

Enjoyed those, Dave. I knew you were a good player, but you're a good singer too.

Dave,
Great stuff! Killer tone on that old recording. Funny how a lot of that country rock stuff we were playing years back is starting to sound more "country" than today's current country.

Cool web page too!
