Does anybody know where to find a tab of Jerry Byrd's great solo on this Hank Williams number?

Wow, I'm not familiar with a Hank version! I really only know (and LOVE) the Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys version. Now I have to sift through my mound of records and cds to hunt this down...

Was this an olde cut from a live WSM Radio broadcast of the Opry? I think I heard it also.

Somewhere in this junky old shack that I live in, I have it on a 45 - (that's right, a 45. Jimmie

Are you maybe thinking of "Rootie Tootie"?

Rich, I'm not. Hank did indeed record it, and I THINK that Fred Rose wrote it. Jimmie

AAARGH!

I do mean "ROOTIE TOOTIE"! Oops.

Sorry for the confusion. Been listening to too much Bob Wills, I suppose.

Yeah, does anyone know where a tab for the JB solo on "Rootie Tootie" can be found?

Boys, I swear - Hank cut Roly Poly. I had ( and maybe still have) a copy of it. It had been re-pressed, and my copy was on a 45. Jimmie

Hank did cut Roly Poly, but I don't recall hearing any steel guitar...atleast not on the cut I have.

I don't think Jerry recorded "Roly Poly" with Hank Williams.

Looking through my Hank collection I found that Williams recorded Roly Poly for a 1949 transcribed radio show called the Johnny Fair Syrup Program. It was recorded at the KWKH radio studios in Shreveport, LA and William's guitar was the only instrument used.

In 1955 MGM records bought the transcription and overdubbed the song with a rockabilly style arangement. If a steel was used on the 1955 dubbing it is buried in the background.

It is possible the song could have been dubbed a second time with steel. MGM overdubbed and repackaged William's songs many times in the 50s and early 60s.
