Run out and get the latest copy of "The Journal Of Country Music" magazine. In it is a feature entitled "Lloyd Green-The Conscience Of Steel," a fabulous piece written by Robbie Fulks. Every steel player should read this if, for nothing else, Lloyd's comments about the future of the instrument and the stereotypical boundaries unjustly placed on the instrument by some. I found it very interesting that the article begins with a chance meeting between Mr. Green and Robert Randolph at Bobbie Seymour's Steel Guitar Nashville. I think everyone is already aware of the genius of Lloyd Green but this article/interview really drives it home. My apologies if this has been mentioned previously here on the forum.

Thanks for the tip. Did a search on the web and this looks like a great magazine for true believers. Robbie Fulks writes some of the most lucid and humorous articles on the current state of country music that I have read. Check out his website for more of his very entertaining articles: http://robbiefulks.com/articles/

There was a reference that Lloyd played on Mr Fulks` new CD. I noted that this CD is not in the "country" section of Tower Records. I was just curious if anybody had any observations/info about the CD. |

I love the latest Robbie Fulks record "Georgia Hard". Robbie has a stinging wit and writes some great tunes but falls outside the mainstream sound. He get's lumped in the Alt-Country category which usually ends up in the rock bins in the record store.
I tend to like his heart-felt songs over his novelty songs however...
Also, he is a fantastic six string flatpicker...

If you are looking for information about the current recording activities of Lloyd Green, please check the website
www.lloydgreentribute.com
The "News" section has information about the latest albums Lloyd played on, the "Soundclips" section has several clips from those albums.
Robbie Fulks is a great musician, singer, songwriter and writer, a refeshing change of pace in today's often uniform and stereotype music scene. He was also the mastermind and driving force behind the Johnny Paycheck-Tribute CD - which featured Lloyd prominently!
Kind Regards, Walter
