Last week we featured a very young Jerry Byrd playing in C#min tuning. This week, same guy, same period of time but he's in C6th it sounds like to me. See what you think.

Hey Ray
Many of us look forward to you posting Jerry's music on the JBFC site. Thanks for keeping it up. I remember seeing a video clip of Jerry holding up a frypan and saying "The steel guitar folks - we've got to keep it going". May have been from Joliet - 1988. People like you are keeping it going.
I learned of the Steel Guitar Forum about a year ago, seeing it mentioned on the JBFC site. Just recently got around to registering. So I'm another "new kid on the forum". Another Dave.
My initial interest in the steel guitar came around 1952. Living in Baton Rouge, LA,I watched a local country band on TV - and attended their Saturday Night show - The Old Country Store at a VFW Hall. A young guy named Buck Grantham was playing this instrument that had legs attached, and he slid a little bar around to make beautiful music. I was hooked at that moment I recently learned that Buck still lives in that area. I purchased a six string National and took lessons at a local music shop. The teachers main goal seemed to be selling me a Fender Double Eight, which I still have. The rest is history - I never came close to mastering the steel, but I have great respect for those like Jerry Byrd who devoted so many years of constant practice and study of the steel guitar.
The forum contains a ton of info, and help for steel guitarists and "fans of the steel guitar". Best five bucks I ever spent.
Thanks again Ray, for doing your part in keeping the steel guitar alive and well.

Hey Ray-
I did find the Hawaiian Steeel Guitar Association site about the same time I found the forum - both from the JBFC site.
Some super fine playing on the HSGA site from Rick Aiello, Chuck Lettes, many others along with "some guy named Ray".
I get a ton of enjoyment from all of these sites.

Dave
