The very best decision I made in producing this CD, was having Terry Bethel as the music director in the control room with the engineer. Besides being one of the greatest steel players ever, Terry Bethel can hear a snow flake drop on the moon. After playing a complicated passage, Terry cut me down to size by saying, "Keith, your 6th string is flat". Sure enough the 6th string was out of tune, and sure enough it was flat, not sharp.
The settings you have on your effects that sound so good to you, may sound terrible in the studio. We had to alter my Profex II program to get a great sound---again, thanks to the man, Terry Bethel, for altering the program on the Profex II. I will put the singer, Gary Atkinson, from Conway, Arkansas up against any singer out of Nashville. We have a rhythm section to die for. This is the "real deal", hard core 4/4 shuffle, with fiddle and steel doing all the picking. Terry Bethel made me turn lose. This is going to be a "monster" when we finish next week.

Keith, put me down for one of Gary's CD's. You're right about him singing! One of the best and I consider you and Terry and Gary as some of my best friends. Can't wait to hear it when you're done with it. Of course, you and Terry and Gary knows that you have a place on our steel convention in October. Keep up the good work. Ray

Keith, save a copy for me. our friend Mr. Tummons has called me a few times ranting and raving about how good this is going to be. What a smart move having Terry on board. come out and see us at the Eagles club some Sunday night and bring your steel!

If you like Bobby Flores and Jake Hooker, then you will love this CD. Bobby and Jake are my favorite singers of today, and their bands are the best. Terry Bethel is a perfectionist who still has more than perfect hearing. Yes, I was under the GUN, behind my steel, looking through the control window at Terry Bethel, one of the greatest players in the world. Terry is NOT easily pleased, with just any playing or singing.
You better be ready to adapt, play something different quick, be able to read charts, and above all be able to count. There are 3 bass parts: Left hand of the piano, up-right bass, and Tic-Tac baratone guitar. You just can't get that true Ray Price stuff without the 3 bass parts. Of course that is just my opinion. In this type of music, there is little place for a guitar, all lead parts are done by fiddles and steel guitar. Probably the most important instrument is the drums. 99% of drummers think they can play this kind of music, but it is just not right. This kind of music has to be learned over time, and more than anything felt. Our drummer, and fiddle player, are brothers who have loved this type of music since they were kids. I told Terry this CD will give Bobby and Jake something to think about.

Basilh, I sent you an e-mail. The 50HZ won't matter, but you will need a small 240 volt AC to 120 AC transformer. You can buy it in your country, they are all made in China. Well, we got snowed and iced out of the vocal recording Monday. Gary can't get over the mountains to finish the last 4 songs Monday. We are hoping the road clears up enough for Gary to come Tuesday. Tomorrow, Terry and I will work on mastering the 6 songs that are done, and possibly add the harmony vocal. The harmony vocalist played two shows near the Canadian border today,Sunday, and the big bus may not make it back to Branson with all the snow and ice. I'd like to have a CD coming out party when we finish. Anyone have any ideas on where we should hold it?

Richard, yes, but their last name is Landry. Every time I listen to what the band played I am amazed. The Landry boys are amazing players, besides being my friends. The Landry boys are Cajuns from Buck Grantham's neck of the woods.

Bobby, the best thing at Scotty's convention last year was when you stepped up and sang, "Another Bridge To Burn." It was an exceptional performance that really impressed me.

Patrick, I never got your message, I assume you sent me an email? Try klhilton@aol.com Patrick, I always help people who need help. We were back in the studio again today. Terry Bethel is in charge of mixing everything. This entire project has come together into an awesome CD for one reason----Terry Bethel. Terry has brought out the best in everyone. Terry is a rare professional, and a gentleman in every respect.

Patrick, I did not get your message, that's why there has been no answer. Try this e-mail address: klhilton@aol.com I always help people who need help Patrick. We finished the vocals and started mixing today.
This is going to be an awesome CD, and all the credit needs to go to Terry Bethel. Terry is able to get the best out of people. For those of you waiting on electronic orders, I just had to take off these 3 days to play steel on this recording. It seems all of Branson is buzzing about these recording sessions. All the musicians in Branson seem to know about it. Everyone seems to appreciate us doing 4/4 shuffle tunes with fiddles and steel as the lead instruments behind the vocals. I had two guys in mind when I played my steel parts: Jimmy Day and Ralph Mooney. My friend down in Texas who can best play a cross between Day and Mooney is Dicky Overbey. He was also on my mind when I was playing my parts behind the singer. I did not try and copy anyone, but I had some steel players on my mind.

Hi Keith, my volume pedal (Serial N° A-18-02) is broken since i messed it up. In order to stash it in my steel seat, i cut the lead wire &i installed a connection w: a stereo jack without installing a protection against shorting. Up until now i used the VP without any probs, unfortunately, it did'nt last ( nobody's fault but mine ).
Seems like the transformer as well as the passive components : resistances, leds, & condos, havent sustained any dammage
Probably the chip / circuit board has suffered. And it is only necessary to change the chips? Whatever you may think of me, would you accept to bring Life back to my VP ?
In order to lighten the load & the costs, as well as customs fees for me, can i send you the circuit board & all the components without having to send the upper casing & without the tranformator ?
Once in your hands, could you give me a diagnostic as well as cost of repair ?
Thanx for your assistance.
Best regards

Patrick, let me thank you for using my pedal. Yes, send me all the electronic guts.
All you will have to cut is the 3 wires going to the circuit board. Green, Black, and White are the 3 colors. Just send the circuit board, with the 3 in-out plugs attached, and the transformer. This should not be that much weight to ship. Ship to: Keith Hilton 248 Laurel Road Ozark, Missouri 65721 United States
