I'll go first. Met him in Mesa a few weeks ago and spent lots of time chatting about steel, found out we both thought alike on many aspects of tone and presentation etc etc. Nice to see that I am not alone in my approach, me in Oregon, JC in Texas.

He played a great set using a Carter, he just sounded terrific, he played with lots of authority and just flat kicked butt. I loved it, nothing shy about Jody's playing.

He has a CD called "A Trip To The Country", buy it, you will love it.

Well, that is a start, next.

Larry, the first time I saw Jody, he was 16 years old and learning to play. I think when he was born, they delivered him on top of a steel guitar.
He is a good friend today and talk to him as much as I can. If you want to meet a super guy to set and talk with, come to the Dallas show in March.
Oh yea!, I forgot to mention that he is just a fair steel player. Jody, call me!!!!

Larry, Jody is at the top of my list of favorite steelers! His playing is so smooth and precise. I'd love to spend sometime with him and learn his techniqes on deliverly. Not that I want to play just like him or anyone esle for that matter. It's just that I love the steel and so many styles of playing. My brother turned me on to Jody and I have two of his CD's. If any of you guys don't have one you need to check them out! Rich Guy

Met him at Tulsa in '05.....great guy, awesome player, and total control of his instrument. I might add, he completely sold out of product....that should speak volumes to y'all.

I have to agree with all ya'll. Jody is just an all around great Christan man, and one heck of a steel guitarist. I've had the pleasure of playing bass behind him many times and have never tired of listening to his playing!

You should hear him in trio setting of steel, bass, and drums..... folks, there are no holes and there is nothing missing at all!

Excellent tone, perfect execution, and a great choice of notes! Keep up the great playing partner. Russ (edited for spelling)

I agree. Jody is a one of a kind guy. He and I have only been friends a few months but I feel like I have known him for my whole life.
I am still a newbie to steel guitar.
Jody has taken me under his wing and done lots of things for me. He never seems to tire of my constant stupid questions. I too am proud to call Jody a close friend.
As for his playing it is as close to perfect as I have heard.

After listening to a few cuts of Jody's playing, I've decided to move to the Seattle area and try to find Bigfoot.

I'd have a much better chance of that than I ever would playing as well as he does.

Well...so long everyone.

Gosh! Thanks Larry and to all of you for the nice comments and kind words. Those of you in the steel guitar "community" - whether you play steel or not - are my closest Pals on earth. I hope to make more friends as time goes by...I'm kind of new to playing at the steel shows, but I really enjoy it.

So far I've played at the Oklahoma, Dallas and Phoenix shows, and I've had a blast at each one. Also the ETSGA, SETSGA & TSGA have great monthly meetings that I really enjoy attending and playing.

Thanks again, and hope to see you all in Dallas. JC

Hello all, from a new member and my first post!

I met Jody last December at a private Christmas party, he was playing with Johnny Bush and Col Lyons. A tremendous talent and absolutely the nicest guy you will ever meet. I was wanting to learn steel and thinking of buying a guitar at the time. Jody was so helpful, he spent about an hour as we sat by candle light (don't get any ideas) while we talked steel, he wrote 4 pages of notes for me..a gold mine of information!

He set up his Carter, which rode 225 miles or so under the Col's bus in rather cold weather, and barely tweaked it to tune it. I was impressed with that, and after talking with Jody, I bought a new Carter, my Christmas present.

Jody was so helpful, he even sent me a copy of his new CD, some great playing and his wife Darla can sing! Thanks again Jody, I'll never forget your generosity and time. A great player and a great guy!

As for Jody that is just the kind of guy he is. I am jealous though, Jody never wrote me any notes

I am exceptionally proud of Jody Cameron. I started him on steel when he was about 16 or 17 years old. He was a "natural" Had the right hand blocking down the first day. Now, he is teaching me. Jody's Dad and Mom were two of the most beautiful people I have ever known. They supported Jody 100% in his quest to learn steel guitar. It is so gratifying to see Jody get the attention he so greatly deserves. His " A Trip To The Country" CD is as good as they get. Jody will carry the torch for the steel guitar into the coming years.Jody.

Thanks again guys for the recognition...I just posted some new dates on my website at www.jodycameron.com . I'm working on more as well, so check back from time to time. I'm blessed to be playing quite a bit so far this year.

Fred, let's get together over candlelight and discuss Willie's new song, hehe .

Weel I met Jody at the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree in Dallas in March of last year and I was blessed to have his "A Trip To The Country" CD and to tell you the truth, I was utterly "Blown Away"! The guy know his "stuff". He does an outstanding arrangement of Johnny Paychecks "Motel Time Again" (which happens to be one of my all time favorites), and also "We Could" by Allen Jackson. Like Larry said above, If you do not have Jody's CD...GET IT! It is very well worht the mony spent and a wise investment. Jody's Website is "WWW.jodycameron.com"

I met Jody when he was playing with David Kersh about eight years ago. We were opening at the Silver Wings Ballroom in Brenham. A really nice guy who I wish lived closer! The boy can do some serious picking. BTW... the fellow who was doing lights on the road with him and David has been our FOH Engineer for several years. (Wayne Pheffer) You guys need to pick up Jody's CD. It's good stuff.
