Bennie, do a search for "biab" in "computers" and "music". You will find many posts similar to yours.

Band-in-a-Box is not a "contraption" - it's a software program that runs on your computer.

BIAB is a great program that emulates various instruments (Bass, Drums, Guitar, Piano and synthesized keyboard) to create a virtual rhythm section that can be played in your key, at your tempo, and can play in hundreds of different styles.

George Wixon has a tremendous tutorial on his web site.

Spend an hour on George's site and you will have a thorough understanding of what BIAB can do and how to make it do what you want.
