I finally got my registration together, and now can post threads after lurking for awhile.

You all have helped me very much, unbeknownst to you.

I have played hack guitar for many years, and recently acquired an old Dekley S-10. I'm trying to figure it all out, and the tabs and words posted here have helped tremendously.

My main influences would be the 'west coast country', including Asleep at the Wheel, Commander Cody, NRPS, Burrito Brothers, and many more of the genre.

I'm glad that b0b has done so much to create this steel community. It's a wonderful thing, and I'm looking forward to participating and adding what I can to the discussions here.

Welcome aboard, Gordy. You will learn a lot about the steel guitar here. If you want to know who plays steel with a certain singer, I can tell you. I have cerebral palsy in my left hand, but it don't stop me from playing the steel guitar. You will love it here. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10

Gordy,
As a fairly recent member, I can guarantee you that this site is a great resource. So as they say, you got your face in the right place. You got your Dekley in the right.... What rhymes with Dekley?

Welcome Gordy. I might warn you that to many older steel players here (like me)"West Coast Country" would be Buckersfield artists like Merele and Buck, and their steelers. However I'm with ya, as I was lucky enough to play many Bay Area gigs sharing the venues with Cody when Bobby Black was playing with them, and The Wheel when they had released thier first "Coming Right At Ya" album (man that was a band, with Chris O'Connel's Connie Smith-like voice, Lucky on steel, Floyd on piano and Gene and Leroy on the bass and drums!).

Look forward to meeting one of these days.
