Cal Smith, Ronnie Reno, and a couple of other guys were also on the show. Mostly talking but some playing too.

I caught the last few minutes of the show with TB last night. Tom plays some wonderful stuff live. Played a show with him a couple of years ago.Plays a fine guitar. Anapeg, I think it spelled this way. Also a fine non-pedal player, especially on the Jerry Byrd songs. |

I just got done watching this show. What a great show. I've always enjoyed "Heart to Heart Classics". My only complaint was that with that many great musicians on the show, it should probably been a 2 hour or so special. Just not enough time for the pickers to show off and tell those great stories.
Does anybody know when that show was taped? Seems to be a lot more recent than the other shows on RFD.

I watched it and I'll tell you what little they played Tom did one great job of playing. I would have much rather of had them play more and talk less. That RFD is one great Channel.I have a Freind that lives the next street over from me and he has all those shows on DVD. He records them all and puts them in his collection.

For those who will not get to see the show, you might enjoy a story that Tom Brumley told. When Buck Owens first hired Tom, Buck said that Tom did not need to bring his steel to California with him as one would be be provided. Tom showed up and asked where the steel was. Buck said do not worry we will get you one before the recording date. Two days before they were to play, a Fender 1000 was produced. Tom had a problem. There were no strings on it, the cables to the changers were disconnected and some of the pedals were broken. Don Rich helped Tom restring it, connected 2 pedals and knee levers and he did the session. Tom inferred that that the previous player delibertly sabotaged the steel.
