I first heard Tommy on the "Return of Wayne Douglas" album and thought it was some of the best playing I had ever heard.
If you are a Tommy fan like I am you need to check out Mando Saenz "Watertown". The playing sounds nothing like "Return" but still just as great. Very atmospheric. I do a lot of jobs backing up folkier singer/sogwriters so I'll be "borrowing" a lot of the ideas he uses on this record.

I'm a HUGE TD fan too. Pick up Texas Artist; Jamie Richards latest CD. Jamie sounds excellent with great songs but it was Tommy who tweaked the mixing board.
Tommy also played steel and guitar. Well worth the money when you find the CD. I think Tommy told me he played with Moe Bandy on the road back in the day, but really, check out Tommy's tone and hot licks on Jamie's CD. I purchased a Session 400 on his advice.
Last summer he was playing a Carter on the recording sessions and you would think he has a B-Bender on his 6 string but he doesn't. Tommy should be in Nashville producing country records - and I'm sure he could if he wanted.
I just can't say enough great things about Tommy and if you ever get the chance to talk with him or hear his playing, I would hope you would agree. |

Tommy played on Dave Jorgenson,s new cd and I can't believe some of those licks and runs he put on it. Simply awsome.
And sence I play for Dave I've got alot of work to do. If you get a copy you'll love it. The cd is still in print but should be out by Jan 1. His website is davejorgenson.com. He should have them for sale in a few weeks.GOOD JOB TOMMY!!!!!!

I don't know what to say really. I am humbled by these comments from my friends and peers. I'm just happy that I am able to put out something that someone, somewhere enjoys. I am blessed to be able to do what I love to do....
But "genius"? Not hardly. Everything I do I have stolen from the true geniuses that created it in the first place.
Johnny, most of the cuts on that record were done on a little white single neck Emmons push-pull. There were a couple that I did on an old Sho Bud Pro II. I recorded direct using a Roland GP-100.
Rog, you rock! And swing!
Thanks guys....
