Thanks to Walter Stettner I discovered Wood Songs Old Time Radio Hour. Fantastic! Follow this link http://www.woodsongs.com/showlist.asp
The playlist has all kinds of folk, country, etc. concerts which play on WMP. I also downloaded the Burrito Deluxe (show #323) which highlights all the members of the band. Great close ups of Sneaky Pete. Be patient, the host performs before BD and there are a couple of commercials, but five minutes into the show DB cuts loose. Great site, thanks again to Walter! |

Pretty cool. Sneaky Pete's guitar has all kinds of buttons and knobs. Is it an extended E9 or a U-12?
Now, when I hear the name Garth,THAT's who I think of, not that other guy. I think Garth Hudson has only spoken about 187 1/2 words in his whole life...and he was born in 1937!!! But, man, his fingers...what a left hand! Prolific doesn't half describe it. |

This is a terrific program to hear Sneaky. I'm glad he is back recording again & look forward to his induction in the hall of fame. Sneaky still has it & his tone is great. I could do without the host Michael Jonathan, but it is his show, & there are other shows in the series that I would love to check out. |

There are several threads regarding Pete's guitar. It's an 8-string Fender 400 in a B6 tuning - 9 pedals and 2 KL's, with 2 pickups. The knobs are part of internally-mounted effects systems. It's been through several mutations over the years except for the tuning.
You can do an awful lot with 8 strings, and he rarely uses most of the pedals. |

Is there some trick to downloading or streaming these? I can't get a single one to go - they'll download about 10k and stop dead every time. |

Jim,
I always right click the video button, then save it to harddrive, always worked fine for me. You should have a high speed connection, though, the files are real big (usually between 140 and 180 MB).
I also downloaded some of the audio and transfered it to CD, the audio files are smaller, but still about 50 MB!
The program itself is really outstanding, tons of good music. I think Sneaky Pete is the only PSG player on the show, but there are some great bands with Dobro (incl. Rob Ickes with Blue Highway!) and great instrumentalists like Tommy Emmanuel, Mark O'Connor, Tony Furtado and,....!
Great stuff!
Kind Regards, Walter

Hmmm - I tried the same downloading procedure from two different machines. Maybe their server was fouled. I'lll give it another shot.
Nope - still not working. Not the sound files either.[This message was edited by Jim Sliff on 08 December 2005 at 05:25 AM.] |

Jim,
No idea what's wrong. I tried it two minutes ago, still works fine for me, there is a steady download speed of over 300 kb/s. Maybe our computer guru Wiz Feinberg has an answer!
Kind Regards, Walter
