Steel Forum Members,

I have to share with you all, what a pleasant surprise awaited me yesterday after a long day of teaching school. My friend Mike McGee a Great Steel Player many of you probably have never heard of, sent me a copy of his first Steel Guitar CD. It is titled "All Loaded Up!"I want to share alittle about it.

I first met Mike about 1978, when I was trying to learn the C6th tuning and he was my steel teacher for a short time. The reason the lessons were so short lived, was we lived about 100 miles apart. He helped me learn about Curly Chalker and other great C6th players. He was a school teacher, ran a farm, played and recorded music professionaly and taught steel guitar all at the same time. I believe he could have been a session player in Nashville, had he chosen to do so, but he chose to be a family man and like the rest of us got tired of the road, shows, clubs, etc.

Well, now he has released his first Steel Guitar CD and I'm glad he did. You will be too when you hear it. WOW! When I listen to this CD it causes me to reflect over the years, and it makes me smile, then it can bring a tear to my eye. As with any True Artist, the great musician touches the soul, heart and mind. This is exactly what Mike has done with this CD.

As you listen to this CD you will hear the influences of Curly Chalker, Buddy Emmons, Lloyd Green, Doug Jernigan, etc. Mike will make you laugh, smile, cry and touch your very steel guitar soul! He is a Master Player! Master Teacher! I am glad to call him friend!

I invite you to get a copy and set back and enjoy.

Great job Friend! GOD bless!

Terry,
It's great when someone's playing is being recognised by their peers.
Now where can one listen to some of it?
Regards,
Nic

Terry, your kindness and sincerity are overwhelming and humbling to me. No amount of money could measure what you mean to me. A 'thank you' doesn't come close to expressing my gratitude, but I really do thank you.

By the way, Terry, 6 songs are on a mica/alum. neck zum, 4 are on an all wood zum, and 1 is on my old push pull. Can you pick them out - ha,ha!

Nic, I'm working on getting a website going, but haven't gotten there yet. I'd be happy to email you some .mp3 samples. I do not expect anyone to buy something from a hacker like me without sampling it first :>).

Also, I tend to lurk in the steel guitar chat room, so I'd be happy to play you a sample if we hook up in there. It's a great place if you haven't been there yet.

I echo Terry's remarks on Mike's CD. I met Mike in early October at the KSGA show. What a great player and perhaps even a greater person. We seemed to hit it off well right from the start. I have one of his CD's and it is laced with fine touch, tone, and tasty selections. Do yourself and favor and get one of his CD's.

Michael,
I do visit the chat room, but due to the time difference it's a bit of a hit and miss as to who is in the room. I'll keep an eye out for you, though.
Regards,
Nic

And it is worthwhile to mention that Mike is a fine Tele player as demonstrated when I played at the KSGA show , he played as staff
guitarist, and did a fine job. Thanks again Mike.

Hello Terry:

Could you send me your email address? I tried to send you one earlier, but it would not go through. I wanted to tell you about a personal connection I have to your fair city.

Take care

Ray, I have a website in the works, but it's not ready. If you have a fast internet connection and an email inbox that can handle a few large files, I'd be happy to send you 2 or 3 30-second mp3 samples.
