Jack Scott had a two sided hit around 1960. Burning Bridges/Oh, Little One. Who did that beautiful steel work? Could that have been Jimmy Day?

Thanks Chick.

My old 45' isn't very clear anymore, I would have loved to hear the studio playback when it was recorded.

The discography in Jack Scott's Bear Family box set lists no details for that recording, other than that it was recorded in NYC at Bell Studios, December 1959, with unknown personnel.

What are the chances Buddy Emmons was in NYC in December 1959 on a rock and roll session??

About zero. If Scott contended Emmons was on the session, I expect it would be mentioned in the discography, if it was at all verifiable.

Emmons did record with Scott years later (1965) in Nashville for RCA.

Lloyd Green recorded with Scott in 1970. Jeff Newman did a session with Jack in 1974.

Paul Franklin played in Scott's band in Detroit as a teenager, long before he came to Nashville.

The earliest picture I have seen of Scott's band, taken in 1957, shows a fiddle and steel. The guy sitting by the Fender steel is identified as Billy Gray, but I have no idea if he was on the Burning Bridges session a couple of years later.

He was a fantastic artist and cut some of the best rock and roll records of the 1950s. Very identifiable and idiosynchratic style on songs like "The Way I Walk", "Leroy", etc.

I loved Jack Scott's music! It made my parents go insane when I played "Geraldine" over and over! Great lyrics!

GERALDINE
(Jack Scott)
JACK SCOTT (CARLTON 483, 1958)

Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
(Oh) Cutest girl I've ever seen
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)

Ah, Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
(Oh) Cutest girl I've ever seen
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)

She's got big blue eyes, old blue jeans
She's the queen of all the teens
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
(Oh) Cutest girl I've ever seen
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)

Ah, Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
(Oh) Cutest girl I've ever seen
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)

She plays and plays, with all the boys
Like they was a bunch of toys
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
(Oh) Cutest girl I've ever seen
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)

Well, she's always found hangin' around
With all the boys that's in this town
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)
(Oh) Cutest girl I've ever seen
Geraldine (Geraldine, Geraldine, Geraldine)

Thanks for all the input. I remember when he came through Duluth in the early 60's he came alone and used a local band for back up. It just wasn't the same without Ahhhhhhhh's.

I saw Jack around 1966 in Hull Quebec Canada and he had a six string guitar player who played steel guitar parts all night. If I remember he was using a strat through an amp and a Leslie speaker. The whole band sounded great.
