I don't know him personally, but he is a forum member, Al Miller. I see his posts fairly often. I'm sure the Nashville guys can fill you in.

I will run this wild story by you and see if this is the same Boo I am thinking of. About 1988 I was working in Longview, Tx when I met this guy and we found we were both learning to play steel. He had his steel in the trunk of his car and took out the body only of it and sat down on his trunk and played on the body (no legs)! Actually, he was playing some pretty quick licks. I think he went on to play for Claude Gray for awhile and then lately had an artist gig with one of the female artist who had some personal conflicts and laid her band off. He probably won't remember me but he was looking at the job with Johnny Lee earlier this year at Gilley's in Dallas and we opened for them but they had Herb Steiner playing steel that night so I did not get to hear him play but obviously getting to hear Herb that night was nice. I am not sure where he is now.

I met Boo a couple of weeks ago. He is in Branson. I don't know if he is playing anywhere yet, but his wife Lisa is singing in the Jim Owen Show at the Americana theater in the mornings. Cal Smith is also a headliner on the show,

Hey folks,

Boo Miller.....great friend of mine and just an AWESOME Pedal Steeler. He did play for Claud Gray and his artist gig was with JoDee Messina.

I played a few gigs with him earlier this year and WOW....what a player...we traded a few steel licks and had a GREAT time.

Lisa is his wife (Lisa Layne) the same gal who sings the original "All I want for Christmas is You".

She is singing in Branson at the moment...probably doing her Patsy Cline showcase. She is Incredible!

Good people and really talented.

Boo told me they would be in Branson for a while, then back to Dallas.

He will be on the Forum shortly.

Thanks guys. I'm sure I've seen postings by Al Miller, so, I'll get his attention next time.
Terry, Are you the same Terry who used to hang around Jeff Newman's college during 1980?? Just curious.
Regards,
Nic

Boo is funny! He's a super-nice guy, a real hustler (type "A"), and a great player as well. If you like the Buddy Emmons' style and sound, you'll love Boo! He used to live in my area, but he packed up and moved to Nashville a couple of years ago.

He was the first one to ever ask me to play at a steel jam, and he even paid me a few nice compliments...something I'll always be indebted to him for.

I work with Boo's wife, Lisa on Jim Owen's morning show in Branson. He and Lisa are great talents and wonderful people. I'm proud to call both of them friends.
