Bruce Bouton has a special talent for coming up with creative ideas. This talent is demonstrated by his "Steel Summit" tapes...
A moment with the masters! history will tell just how valuable these tapes really are to the world of steel guitar. My wish is that a foundation for preserving our heritage be organized with Bruce Bouton as Director, I think there may be financing available for such a worth while project.... cheers for Bruce, what a great talent!...[This message was edited by Delbert Aldredge on 10 November 2005 at 06:52 PM.] |

Thanks Delbert for the kind words.I put the Steel Summit together as a labor of love and respect for the great players that paved the way for all of us. I made a big mistake by not having the guys play .i thought the steel world would love to hear the stories told by these great men. Unfortunately two of the greats aren't with us anymore.
Best Regards
Bruce Bouton |

Bruce...fortunately I can sit and drink coffee with Hal and Jimmy any time... all I need do is incert my summit tapes and I'm there with Hal, Jimmy, Lloyd and Weldon - this is what makes the tapes so special!
I have watched the tapes over and over and each time I hear something new. Jimmy tells about stopping in the middle of the street to tell his wife "he knows what he wants to do" and Hal talks about Shot Jackson helping him buy furniture and that little laugh Hal does imitating Shot's humorous side. It's as if I am there with them! Lloyd Green tells how he came about the E to F tuning and Weldon talks about his D# tuned down - the tapes make it possible for me to have the masters of the pedal steel guitar right here in my living room!
THE TAPES ARE A COLLECTORS ITEM ... very pleased I got my set while they are available. This collection will become more valuable with time. I would strongly incourage everyone to collect their set now..."you're really going to enjoy them!"
I checked and bOb has a few in stock you can purchase the full set here from the forum, it's item #v-phoIs - "get yours today!" |

well i will say this about bruce. i started playing psg 18 months ago and he was one of the first instruction tapes i bought. i have bought a few tapes and bruce is the best teacher/instructor of all the tapes i have purchased. he goes over everything slowly and explains things and it is just simple playing no fancy tricks just great instructions. i would love to see bruce make some more instructional tapes. just a thought. doc

I agree Sidney. Im a new player, and bruces tape has been the best off all. Easy to follow. All these other tapes Ive got are to fast and dont really explain how to actually play what they are teachching.
I would love a 2nd video from Bruce. |

i am not going to mention any names but i bought over $300 dollars of tapes and tab sheet music from a high named psg player and they was almost worthless to me. too hard to follow and a very strange way of playing. using half pedals etc. on the tapes not one song was showed how to play. just parts of a few songs. now the man i got these tapes from was a very tallented player in his own style but too difficult to learn. i went over these tapes several times and couldn't get much out of them. i took them to a friend of mine who was self tought and he couldn't get much out of them either. he has been playing for 25 years or so. i showed him bruces tape he knew just about everything on the tape but said it was a very good instructional tape. bruice i beg you to make some more instructional tapes. and i would like to know if bruce playes a carter or a emmonds? or what he plays. i know he has or had a emmonds but the reason i am asking is carter is putting up notices that bruce is playing a carter and they are good psg,s i just prefer a zum for a few different reasons. bruce talk to us let us know if your going to make more instructional tapes and what psgs you have and play. thanks doc.
