If you have access to RFD-TV on satelite chances are you seen the BIG JOE POLKA SHOW.
This has got to be some of the absolute worst in TV musical entertainment i've ever seen. However, it must be a very popular venue up in Medina, MN where it's produced. Theres aways a packed house with polka bands, dancers and spectators. For the life of me I can't understand why a good Steel Guitar show wouldn't maybe pull a better audience.
We play an instrument that totally fascinates people watching. I think it would be a good move for RFD to consider this idea. I guess I'm just not a big fan of POLKA's and can't see why a silly show like this is getting nationwide exposure.

You guys obviously ain't from Nebraska, Wisconsin or Minnesota. What country music is to Tennessee, polka is to that neck of the woods.
Here where I live, it's "beach music". Barf.
When does the Big Joe show come on? I'd love to see it! I've played a few polkas in my day. |

Theres a few country station that could use a good shot of real country music also. Some of the new singers are so far removed from what is good country music its not funny.At least big Joe is what he is.(Polk) all thoe be it bad.

Nick, take a trip across the mid-west of the US and Canada and see how many polka festivales there are and check out the crowds they draw.
We came across a polka week end (just passing through the town) some where in S Dakota last summer and there had to be 1200 people camped at the fair grouds to attend this thing. When is the last time you played for at a dance that had a crowd like that?

| There is a time and place for everything. The Tuba and Accordian players would probably raise a big stink if it was a steel show. The best thing to do is just grab a brew and a big kraut-dog and join in on the fun for an hour. |
