That steel player is definately one of the best I have ever heard. What a great tone and knowledge of music he has. Don't know who he is but you can see his belly and he is certainly fueled by bisquits and gravy....like me.
[This message was edited by Rick Nicklas on 17 September 2005 at 06:40 AM.]

Further down the page, when discussing the Gimble and Vassar project, it mentions Joe Dye on steel and bass. Could it be him overdubbing? Notice the shots of the steel sitting behind the bass player with no one playing it. Whomever, he sure is smoking and has studied Buddy a lot.

That explains why we never see the Steeler's face!
The empty Steel Seat should have also been a clue.
I looked close again, and believe the hands and the clothes prove it the same guy.
Monster player! Thanks guys.

It's NOT Doug Jernigan!
I got a mail from Bob Harris the acoustic guitarist on the video he told me that it is the Bassplayer Joe Dye .Bob told me that He is probably one of the most talented musicians he have ever worked with! Joe Dye was in the studio just recently cutting tracks on the steel for more Vassar songs. Bob Harris told me when he get them mixed he will send it to me.. I will posed it as a mp3 when you all like it'
