Back in March of 2004 I bought my first Steel form Bobby Bowman. He was very helpful in explainig everything to me about the Steel and made sure that I had every thing that I would need before leaving the TSGA Jamboree - Dallas with it. Well while practicing the first part of this week (9/4/05) the low "B" string on my guitar broke at the changer end. (ARRRRRRRGGGHHHH!!!)
So I decided to put on a new set of strings. I took my Steel out to one the local Music stores and the owner being a guitar player and having some mechanical knowledge of the Steel helpd me install them. while outting them on the "G#" (3rd) string kept on breaking at the tuning peg where the hole is. That began my warst possible nightmare. I wasted 4 or 5 strings trying to put them on. I took my Steel back out to the Music Store and the owner sanded around the hole to get rid of any burrs that may have collected oround the hole. I then tried to rewstring the "G#" string at it continued to break at the tuning peg end.
Well, I came to the conclusion that there definately was a problem with the tuning peg. SO I called my very dear friend Bobby Bowman (who built my Steel) I told him the problem I was having and that it would be worth the drive from Dallas to his residence in the Houston area if he would look at it and tell me what the problem actually was. He took time out of his day to look at my guitar and to help me fix the problem. What can I say? Except that Bobby Bowman is a true definition of what a friend is suppose to be. He stands behind his work and is always willing to give advise and pointers when asked to. I value my dear friendship with Bobby and it is something that I will cherish for a long long time to come. Bobby, keep up the good work and you are someone that I will always be proud of to have as my friend. D:

Amen to that! We in the Houston area are fortunate to have Bobby nearby. He can talk you through a problem or he can have you bring it in to fix. Bobby is a regular player at our Southeast Texas Steel Guitar Club and he is a great contributor to the event. He shares his great knowledge patiently with those of us who know less. A great friend. He would unselfishly share his last can of sardines!

Gregg,
Glad I could be of some help. Tell your mom a big hello and a hug from me. She is absolutely a princess. 90 years young and spry as a teenager.
