| One steeler I've never heard mentioned on the forum is Dennis Delorme. That seems odd because he was the steel player for the band Prairie Oyster who were very popular in Canada and I assume had some coverage in the U.S. as well. Delorme's playing features very prominently in most of the hits that band was known for...a very fine player with great taste and great tone. He has won many instrumentalist awards from the Canadian Country Music Association. There are quite a few great steelers on this side of the border who have drawn forumite's attention....Al Brisco, Bob Lucier, Bob Taillefer etc. How did Dennis Delorme escape notice? |

| Dennis keeps a very low profile in the steel world. He's supposed to be back out here with Prairie Oyster in about a week, they're semi-retired these days. |

Speaking of great Canadian steelers.... thanks for responding John.
Actually I think I read an article once where Delorme was described as a bit of an introvert. Nonetheless, I'd have thought that he'd be more widely recognized for his work with Prairie Oyster...they've really produced some great music over the years. I guess perhaps they never penetrated the U.S. market to the extent of some other Canadian performers. |

I haven't seen Dennis lately, but I played guitar alongside him on many occasions in the past.
Every gig with him was a great musical adventure -- exhilarating, scary -- you name it! =)
Dennis is a cool guy with a great sense of humour.
He's also an inspired and inspiring player.
[my desire to play pedal steel is largely because of him].
I hope our paths cross again before too long!

| Prairie Oyster is definitely a great band and in their videos, Dennis Delorme played an Emmons. Prairie Oyster had a song and video out in the early nineties called "One Precious Love" and it was one of my favorite videos.
