Pee Wee Whitewing

When I was in high school in the '60's I went into a music store in Crowley, La., and saw this funny looking instrument. A man came over and explained that it was a pedal steel guitar. He introduced himself as Pee Wee Whitewing. He offered to teach me how to play the thing but in my youthful ignorance I turned him down.
I've seen his name here and there since then but don't know anything about him. Can anyone give me any information about Pee Wee?

Peewee ranks up there with the best players in the world. He is an absolutly great player, played with Hank Thompson for years, is in the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. Great country, jazz, anything that needs to be played. And a very friendly person. I'll bet you can tell that I'm a fan, from the first time I heard him with the Brazos Valley Boys. A high light of my life was sitting in Bill Stafford's music room and hearing these two great players, moments like that don't come often enough.

Dear Folk,
I enjoyed reading your posts about my Pa. As you may now he passed away at age 85 on March 27, 2020. I am doing my best to keep his legacy and memory alive. You can visit
www.peeweewhitewing.com for his official website, he also has a Facebook page dedicated to his memory, and you can stream his last album and first and only featured artist album "Heart of Steel" at
www.reverbnation.com/peeweewhitewing.
I know him as well and deep as he ever let anyone, and his heart was big enough to love the whole world, which he did - and I know he loves all of you and would be grateful for the way we honor his memory collectively.
With love and gratitude,
Andie Whitewing
