I listened to a steel player in a country band weekly during 1967 to 1969 in Lompoc, CA. I wasn't playing steel at the time but listening to him helped get my interest up for the instrument. I didn't pick up the steel until 20 years later.

Thank you;

Sherman

Hey Sherman, Lompoc, California? That brings back memories. I played there for a while at the end of 1965 and into 1966 at a place called "Martin's Manzanita Room" or something like that. The band was me on lead and sometimes Fender 1000 (If it wasn't in the pawn shop), and three guys who were in the Air Force at Vandenberg AFB. Bill Quisenberry on rhythm and lead vocals, Max (can't remember last name) on Bass & vocals, and Joe (can't remember last name) on Drums & vocals. They were actually pretty good pickers and we had a good time. Other players I knew and picked a little with while there were Aubrey Greer who played rhythm & sang, and a good guitar picker named Woody Fryer who also had a brother named Neil who was a good drummer. Lompoc was a nice little town but just a bit quiet for me so I moved back to LA......JH in Va.
