There are a lot of good psg CDs out there these days and I am grateful. Today I took this CD and listened on one of my walks, and there is Buddy's fantastic, flawless picking. It had been a while since I listened to one of Buddy's CDs, fortunately I've had a lot of good distractions. I can truthfully say that I have always gotten my moneys worth in anything he has done. This one has about 21 songs (tunes). I think that more accolades are due this great musician. May God bless you real good Buddy, and thanks for all you have contributed to this great instrument.

It dawned on me that so much attention is given to a lot of great, new musicians and I like to see the man that blazed the trail and IMHO was one of the few that initially set the bar so high. And when I play one of Buddy's CDs I think, hmmmm, I don't think that anyone is better. If I was a newbie I'd give Buddy a serious listen, I think that you will be more than pleased. When did Buddy put out that jazz LP? I think I remember sometime back in the 60's.

Can anyone tell me about the 'Black Album'?
Heard about it, don't know it. Does it have some of the jazz sessions he's played?

I hope that Buddy will seriously consider doing an instructional video or two, (similar to the ones Jay Dee has done), and please Buddy, I think that a video with you as the instructor would be most effective. I'm sure I wouldn't have any problem remembering, (old as I am), any instruction coming from you personally. I consider you a legend.

That was recorded as,"Linda Lou",on the Cherokee Cowboys album,"Western Strings". Its,also the only album that Buddy used the "talking-steel" effect.("Burnt Fingers",w/ Wade Ray-vocal.)

"When he's 'a playin' with desire, he gets burnt fingers." Right on Smiley. That "Western Strings" album has great stuff with Buddy playing C6 licks that were so far ahead of their time it's unreal. I have it around here somewhere. I think it was done in '66... that sound right Smiley ??

As far as "Swingin' by Request" and the "Black Album" are concerned, well they're Buddy Emmons recordings and that makes 'em great. I have about all his recordings and I love them all but those two are right up there at the top. I really like the mix of song types on both. They're also great listening when you're driving your vehicle... so long as you set the cruise control !!

Tiny,
I don't know. It was before they decided to put any "vital information" on the albums
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gary,
You're absolutely right. But,here's the "strange" thing,J.F.Y.I. All three versions have different writers! The Cherokee Cowboys version credits "L.Price". The Shot/Buddy version credits "Bob Miller". The McCall "Lily Dale" version credits "B.J.Wills-T.Moore". I'm assuming that would Billy Jack Wills,& "Tiny" Moore.
BTW,there IS info on the McCall album. It was recorded in 1977.
