I belong to the P.S.G.A. and enjoy their newsletters. What I would like to know, would it be wrong to try too join another association or would that cause a conflict with the membership I already have.If not what other association would you suggest..Thank you for your thoughts and time

There is no conflict at all. Join as many as you can afford to. Everyone appreciates the support of the steel community and you'll learn something from all of them. |

Barry...
The Georgia Steel Guitar Association is in it's second year, and really thriving. While most of our members are from Georgia, we do have members from South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. It has been the best way to meet local players that we have ever seen. If you have a local Association, by all means join. If you don't...start one! Visit us at www.georgiasteelguitar.com

I agree with what Jim Cohen said.
We have two Steel Guitar clubs in the Tampa area.
No conflicts...just twice as much fun.
Many of us are members of both clubs.

Even though I only belong to the Deep South Steel Guitar Association in Gulfport, Ms. I am getting ready to send dues to the NTSGA(Tennessee) to join it. I planning on joining several this year. The information and connections to the steel guitar world are pretty much unlimited through these organizations. Go for it! |

I would love to be a member of the PSGA, but I don't know what good it would do me,hundreds of miles away from NYC,Conn,LI where most of the members are... are there local "splinters" where there are jams.swaps, etc??/ bob [This message was edited by Bob Carlucci on 10 June 2005 at 05:45 AM.] [This message was edited by Bob Carlucci on 10 June 2005 at 05:54 AM.] |

Bob C., it's well worth it to be a member of PSGA no matter where you live, and PSGA has members from all over the world, as well as across the USA. One of the benefits is that they produce the best monthly newsletter in the steel guitar world, consistently, month after month, for many years. Lots of news, info, pix, tab, announcements, etc.
Also, Candor is only about 4 hours from Norwalk, Connecticut, where the annual show is. That show is not just the best in the northeast, but ranks among the best in the country. If you can manage the 4 hour drive each way, it's definitely worth while, and members get discounted admission.
Plus, of course, you get the satisfaction of knowing that you're helping to keep steel guitar alive in the country by joining these associations. |

I belong to the PSGA for their very good newsletter. They always have some good articles and tab in every issue. I also belong to a couple of Hawaiian groups as I didn't start out on a "steel" guitar, I started out on a "Hawaiian" guitar.

I've been a member of the PSGA since '77 or '78. It doesn't matter if you live close or not! When I joined I lived in Southern California and that's a good distance. I think maybe this year I'll be able to get to their annual event! I also miss the one the Scotty had for a long time. They had a great newsletter too......JH in Va.
