I try to keep up on the careers of all steel players, including the ladies. I encourage all the ladies that play steel guitars. I think it's just wonderful, and i wish more ladies would post topics on the forums. Anyways...i came across this old steel guitar LP i have, and it is by a young lady by the name of Doloris Hancock, she was on the cover of her LP with a beautiful Emmons guitar..what happened to her? smiley do you know maybe? just curious...don't see anything on her anywhere.

I believe that she's now Dolores Simmons, and I had the pleasure of meeting her at Burlington while Jim and Ron Jr. worked on my steel a few years back.

Dolores was having some work done on her teal green SD10 LeGrande. I seem to recall seeing her at StLouis (ISGC 2000), when she played in the Emmons room - as is normal for her - in her bare feet.

A nice lady and a nice player.

George,

Thanks for the encouragement. There really are some times when I think there must be something wrong with me. Then I walk past my little guitar and think, "I love you anyway". Its lonely though. But I've met some wonderful fellows in our new club here in Colorado, in fact, they're all wonderful. Gosh, what have I got to complain about?

Leila, thanks...just stick with it..i often get so discouraged, all thumbs sometimes. But just keep plugging away. I just know you are a better player then you are telling us...and like myself, i bet you are your worst critic...

Hi Connie,
Nice to see you on the forum.

Folks, Connie is a FINE steel guitar player.
She is a member of the Florida Steel Guitar Association and frequently plays at our jams, even though it is a very long drive for her.
Whether she is playing a solo or backing up a singer her performances are always top rate.
We are all looking forward to her spot on the September Anniversary Show.

Blake

Thanks for passing that along Blake. These steel guitar clubs are so important to steel guitar. And i think it would be great if all you florida steelers would check out the Florida Steel Guitar Association. If you are close, i would recommend all steelers to join with others in a club, to share idea's
and tips. I am going to attend the Central Illinoise Steel Guitar Associations, East Peoria Steel Guitar Show, June 26th. Even though i live in Michigan, i will make the 5 hour drive, because i love Steel Guitar and enjoy sharing with others. Connie, you just never know, Florida today, maybe the ISGC in St Louis tomorrow...Keep Up The Good Work!

Connie Burton, the greatest! She is a wonderful person I haven't seen in way to long.
I sold the '66 Delores Emmons" (Coral color) a few years ago to Carco Claverea, busy player in Nashville. Great sounding guitar,
