As some of you might remember, I sponsor an exhibitor booth at the CMA's Fan Fair every year in the Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn. The booth is titled...'the History Of Classic Country and Bluegrass Music.'
This will be our sixth year.
We have been honored to have some of the best in Bluegrass and Classic Country appear in the booth to sign autographs........ Rhonda Vincent, Ricky Skaggs Kentucky Thunder, Marty Rabon, Charlie Louvin, the Stevens Sisters, Larry Cordle, writer of Murder On Music Row and many more.
Two years ago we enjoyed an hour with Don Helms and John Hughey as special guests during a special steel guitar segment.
The country music fans were very receptive as both John and Don autographed their pictures. Don had the picture of Hank Williams Drifting Cowboys when Don was a member. The picture of Don was really a favorite of the fans.
John's history as Conway Twittys steel player amongst others brought many into the booth to visit with the boys.
This year, again, I plan to set aside two hours on one of the four days to honor the great steel guitarists, the one instrument that is most responsible for the Classic Country sound and is still being used extensively in modern country.
The fans, over 130,000 of them, that attend Fan Fair every year are avid collectors of country/bg music memorabilia.
During my career I have always tried to bring the steel guitar to the forefront. After all, without the pedal steel guitar, country music would have been a totally different sound much the same as Bluegrass without Earl Scruggs 5'string banjo.
This year we are excited to announce that the 'Martha White - Grand Ole Opry' .....1955 Flex touring bus of Lester Flatt and Earl Scrugs will be part of the 50' exhibit.
The bus, www.bluegrassbus.com, is now a traveling museum featuring hundreds of pieces of classic country/bluegrass memorabilia.
Any steel guitarists that would like to be part of this 2 hour steel guitar extravaganza, please contact me.
Thanks,
Dave A. Burley

Hi, Dave
I'll be there this year, backing a new artist at the Riverfront Stage, but I'm not sure when we're arriving or leaving. Send me an EMail if you get a chance. I've always appreciated your contributions to the steel guitar world. If you'll recall, we met when I was playing the Michigan show a couple of years ago. Best regards and best of luck.
