After my Nashville trip, there's no place like home...

I've played in 30 some bands there since May of '80, and am working on destroying another couple of them..

It's a great place for people to visit, and I hope to see Mr Owsley and others there as their time and travel permits. I met a Mr Edgington there some twenty years ago, if I remember right. It could have been a similar name, but he was playing with M-Mel at the time. Was that you Roger?

Eric,

I don't beleive we've met. I've never been in that part of the country. But you sure sound like an interesting character. Someday I might be in that part of the country and maybe we'll meet. How's that "new" beautiful Sho-Bud. It sure is pretty?

Well, the group that I've been working with,"The Dixon Chicks",(we have 2 girls in the band, figure it out for yourselves.),are goin' back to the club that we WERE workin' at before. Remember "The Cowboy Saloon",in Gallatin,Tn.? Well, now its "The Ranch Bar & Grill". New owner,COMPLETELY re-decorated,inside & out,& THREE days a week,(thu.,fri.,& sat.)AND,A RAISE IN PAY!
The "lower Broadway" boys can only DREAM of this kinda job. And,its coming at the right time, too. It'll help "re-coup" my trip to the T.S.G.A. show.

Smiley - so they're not transvestites?.....

The Kevin Fowler Band is headlining the rodeo here in Austin Thursday - I've never done the revolving stage thing before (yay, I get to sleep at home), then Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth on Friday and Eddie's Country Ballroom in Manvel, south of Houston on Saturday - should be a fun weekend....

I'm at the Rodeo Bar Friday night with the Jack Grace Band. Jack has a great new album out "I Like It Wrong", his music ranges from sounding like Mr. Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson to Tom Waits. Great performer too. We are doing two sets, starting at 10 PM. Would love to see some of you all there, come watch me try to play about 30 of Jack's songs!

Smiley,
On special occasions we use a pair of beautiful teenage twin girls on fiddle along with Richard, our normal fiddler. So we have twins playing twin fiddle. They are on our new CD on one song. Richard has written out parts for them to do a whole set with us live. Then we have 5 fretless instruments. HELP!One of us is bound to hit the right pitch.

Hey Roger, ole buddy!

I'm playing drums Friday night at Hondo's in Fredericksburg with Bobby Flores but I don't have a Saturday night gig. Let me know if you hear of anything -- I'm like a fish out of water on a Saturday with no gig.

Tell Billy hi for me and have a good gig.

Best,

Jim

Sat from 6 to 8pm I'll be on the "Heartland Hayride" on www.wdvrfm.org. I'm there most Saturdays unless we have an Atlantic City thing. When I can't make the Hayride "Little" Dave Van Allen usually plays there and when neither of us can do it John Ciano helps out. Three forum guys sharing the duties, "ain't that fun"?
