I was able to spend Friday night at the Dallas show. I think this year's show was especially good. Players (Hal Rug, JD Mannes, and Paul Franklin) were jamming in small rooms and hallways. It was a pleasure to see these guys having such a good time and demonstrating their awesome skills in such close quarters. I've never seen JD or Paul play in person so it was great to experience their playing live. I've always enjoyed Paul's studio work, but I'll have to say he's truly unbelievable live and up close. What a talent! I'll bet Saturday was even better.

Doc, I attended the Saturday night show and man was it great. That was the first time I have seen Jay Dee live and the second for Paul Franklin. These guys are great pickers. This may sound crazy but when you see guys play at such a high level as they do, anything they do with the steel impresses me. Jay Dee was awesome in his set and Paul Franklin played in a set with Randy Beavers, Hal Rugg and John Hughey. It was a night I will never forget. I just look at them and wonder where they find all that stuff they play and how they learned to play with such speed. I guarantee you I will be back next year for the Texas Jamboree. We have a great show here in Texas and I certainly appreciate all the players coming in and picking.

Paul, thanks for the Saturday update. I wish I could have stayed. It definitely had the vibe of a great weekend. I'll have to say that Paul Franklin played stuff that I've never heard before or thought was possible. A true legend!

Ya'all should have heard the Albert Talley segment with the tribute to Bob Wills with Curtis Potter and Rob Parker on the vocals on Sunday. It was pretty awesome for an old Pennsylvania/Florida country boy. I already have my hotel reservations for next year. Albert, ya done good on all aspects of the Jamboree.
