We don't get GAC at home in FL, but it is here in El Paso at the hotel I'm staying at, and I watched Joe Diffie and his band do an hour-long concert last night.

I'm afraid I missed the names of the musicians, but I thought it was a fine band! The guitar-player was nailing all the recorded licks and some(!), while the steel player sounded great! We barely got a shot of him (what's new?), but he had an SD-10 LeGrande lll - does anyone know who it is?

Most of all. Joe Diffie has one of the best voices in country music - he's just wonderful on some of the excellent ballads that are in his repertoire. I've never been very fond of his up-tempo, southern-rock style material, but he sure can sing!

Did anyone else see this? I liked it so much that I'd love to get a copy somehow.

RR
PS: the audiemce looked pretty scary, though.....

Thats Dave Woods. I played with him this summer fronting Diffie. He's a real nice guy and a great steel player. He was with Lorrie Morgan for a few yeras.

Can anyone tell me if Gene Diffie is Joe Diffie's Dad? Just wondering.

I played with Gene Diffie at the Rawhide in Scottsdale,Arizona around 1972. He was quite well known in the Phoenix area.I like Joe Diffie's singing and band....al

Dave Woods! That was it - thanks, Kevin. He really played beautifully, and the mix on this show was excellent.

Al - I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that one. I'd like to know more about Joe - he was pretty hot for a while a few years back, but he seems to have had less exposure lately. I guess I shouldn't be surprised - he no longer cuts such a dash as he's 'filled out' a little! Not video-friendly any more, I imagine; what a joke the music business is, to be sure.

I think that 'Ships That Don't Come In' is one of the best country songs of the last fifteen years, and he sang it beautifully on last night's show.

Joe Diffie and his terrific band are on my 'must see' list!

I didn't get to see the hour long show you're posting about, but I saw Joe and his band on the Grand Ole Opery Live a couple weeks ago. I didn't recognize the guitar player, and he didn't get the chance to do a lot. I met a great Telecaster slinger a couple years ago in Nashville that was playing on the road with J.D. but have not heard where he's working now. His name is JASON ROLLER.
I was very impressed with this young talent, and such a nice Kid. (if you're under fifty, you're a kid to me).

If anyone knows where Jason Roller is working please let me know here. Thanks.
