Does anyone know, or have an educated guess about, the number of copies of Santo and Johnny's version of "Sleepwalk" that were sold?

And while we're at it, how about the number of copies of CSNY's "Teach Your Children"?

Inquiring minds want to know...

I have an old 45 of Sleepwalk on my jukebox.
I kind of think that's the reason Tommy fell in love with me in 1998. Thanks Santo and Johnny!!

It would also be interesting to know how many times this guy has "played" Sleepwalk during his career.

I think a great question would be,"How many times has this song been played"? I don't believe I ever had a steeler in my band who never had at least two request nightly.

I'll bet if Jerry Garcia (Teach Your Children) ever played Sleepwalk, it would sound better than anyone elses version!

Ok, gotta run now!!

Although I don't know how to prove it, but I do believe that the sales of the recorded song, "Sleepwalk" has appeared on more "sold" singles, LP records, cassettes, and CD's than any other steel guitar recording. The reason for this is that it was purchased by people other than steel guitar players. I learned from another source (which I can't recall) that the second most recorded tune was "Memories of Maria" recorded by Jerry Byrd. On that note, there is little doubt in my mind, that the most prolific selling steel guitarist of all time has been Jerry. Actually, his singles and albums have probably sold more than all the other recording steel guitarists combined (as an artist recording under his own name). Second to Jerry is Buddy Emmons. Lastly, I am confident that Paul Franklin has appeared on more recorded cuts (that have sold under other artists' names) than anyone other than Pete Drake. It could be by now, that Paul has exceeded Pete Drake's accumulated number of sold recordings.

Johnny Farina may know the answer to how many albums were sold by himself and his brother (that included "Sleepwalk" as one of the cuts). Remember though, Santo Farina recorded dozens of albums when he and Johnny broke up. Santo did most of those subsequent recordings in Italy. I will send Johnny's email address Jim Cohen. Perhaps Johnny can advise him of the total (or close to it). ...Tom

I seem to remember Johnny stating during his set in St. Louis this year that "Sleepwalk" has been played in more movie soundtracks than any other song in the history of movies. Something like 2 or 3 dozen different movies maybe.

Hey Bradshaw if you did to Johnny's nose what you did to mine. You would receive an offer you couldnt refuse.

Johnny and Santo started playing at a club a few miles from where I was playing back in the 1950's called "The Amber Inn". I went to see them between sets as they would do the same when I was playing. I could see by the way the kids were dancing that these two Italians from Brooklyn had something magic that the kids were digging.

This post was copied and pasted by Jody's daughter Lorrie on December 17th 2004.

Thank you..Anyone want a nose job? call or write T.Bradshaw his slogan is "Let Me Pick Your Nose.
