Over the past couple of years, a group of my circle of musicians have went to some the area schools (Grades 1-8 mostly) and played for the kids. It seems that a lot of music programs have suffered in some states because of Goverment cut backs. There are a few grassroots programs in NC that pay for us to go in & play, and a couple of times we have gone in for free. It has been very rewarding for me with or without money. Have any of you played for the school kids.

Quite often I go to a school and spend the day with kids and let them learn about Steel Guitars. The pre school and the lower grades seem more interested.I let each one come up and actually "PLAY" the guitar.Sometimes I let them "Slide" from Red, Blue, Green dots while I "Pick". THey all seem to enjoy it. At least they have had a Hands On experience with a Steel.ED Naylor Steel Guitar Works.

I jammed with some students at their 8th grade picnic. It was fun and they were totally confused as to what the heck I was playing! I'm trying to get a bass player co-worker to join in next June.

Leonard T Zinn plays in schools. Even in schools as far away as old Burma. He did that while on a missionary trip.
He plays once a year here in Grand Haven for Molly Rogers (Frank Jrs wife) as she promotes a Hawaiian day in her head start class.
L T plays the lap steel there. Everyone decorates the the room Hawaiian and dress's
the same.
The kids crowd around L T and he is so patient and kind to them.
He allows them to touch and try whatever they
want to.
Another high school now has asked him to come sit in with the school band.
L T is the energizer bunny and loves to do it all. Evelyn
