OK I promised Smiley I'd post the URL to my web site, in case someone wanted to hear him playing PSG on my album.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to hear him play but what the heck we have to humor the elderly!

So here it is:
Daryl's Web Site

Click the music link and you can hear 2:00 minutes of each song. Somewhere in there you'll hear what's his name.

Thanks for the link, sounds good. I was in Bakersfield in the early 70's, played at the Barrel House quite a while, Mondays at the Blackboard. I remember Dennis very well, always thought he was an exceptional guitar picker and singer. Good memories.

Howard,

The old Barrel House and Blackboard were some hard charging places in those days. Dennis got drug out of the Barrel House in the 60's by the cops, well he was playing in the band, but only 16! hahaha Norm Hamlet used to play there before he joined up with Merle.

Yeah they were fun times for sure. Check my other message here for that Internet radio station that plays Bakersfield Country Music, man it's great hearing those old songs. And the pickers well it's something else.

Gene,

Thanks for the nice compliment on the music, if we only could have gotten Smiley to tune that "Dominoe" steel! (inside joke).

Hey, it's like old times. Good to see you on here, Jimmy. I remember when you got that new Sho Bud, bet you sound great now.
That radio station brought memories too, when I turned it on the first thing I heard was my old Buddy Don Markham. We shared some things for sure.

OK if you want to hear Don Markham and tons of others playing and singing from the Bakersfield past, then go listen to the "Yall Come Sessions" at my Dad's web site...
www.davestogner.com/yallcome.htm

Play #7 in the short versions to hear Smiley Roberts, Jim Unger and Dennis Payne let loose!

Drew,

That was Smiley Roberts on steel, Jim Unger on fiddle, Gene Rabbai on keyboards, Steve Holland on drums, Eddie Dunbar on bass and Dennis Payne on lead guitar. One heck of a studio band!
