The "From:" line on a virus email is meaningless. It is pilfered by the virus from the actual sender's address book.
Never open email attachments. Don't count on so-called "virus protection" to protect you if you can't follow that one simple rule.

Also...and unless you're running a business using your computer, keep your e-mail addresses in a small notebook on your desk and not stored in your computer's hard drive!
If you're a private party, and don't have the time to type the address into every e-mail message you're sending...you're probably sending way too many e-mails. All people would have to do to lower the spread of viruses by about 90% would be to just STOP using Microsoft's Outlook "Address Book"!
That "Outlook" e-mail client has been the "carrier" for almost every major virus outbreak in the past 5 years.
Believe it!!! |
