Howdy all. I've done a lot of genealogy research here in the last month or so, and I am in the process of joining the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Any compatriots here?
Have a Dixie Day!!

Hi David,
I used to belong to the SCV (Wade Hampton Camp, in Cola., SC), but there were a few people in the organization who I thought were a little too, er, zealous. The war IS over, you know
I have 5 direct ancestors who fought on the Confederate side- four were in the 2nd NC Artillery, (3 of those were taken prisoner when Ft. Fisher fell) and one was a Sgt. in the 18th NC Infantry and was wounded at Chancellorsville. That took him out of the war for the duration. I had his bayonet when I was a boy (8-9 years old), but I either lost it or it was stolen.
I'm proud of my southern heritage, but I don't fly the battle flag! |

Cool Rick! I just found my confederate ancestors, so I don't know too much about them yet. The ancestor that I signed up under (Sherwood Lindsey Mullis) was my 3rd great uncle. He served in Co. A, 48th NC Infantry. He was wounded in the hand, returned to Duty and then captured and apparently spent the duration of the war at Point Lookout. He also had 3 brothers that served, but, I found more documentation on him than any of the others, so I went with him. Too bad about the bayonet. :/
Take Care
David
