Henry this is a very beautiful tune and I really like Bob's arrangement. This is actually a Mexican tune named Estrellita or Little Star. It was recorded many years ago by Jerry Byrd. It is beautiful enough to be a Hawaiian tune.

Very nice!!!

When Jerry played this song at the ISGC, he (on several ocassions) told us that the Japanese said, "That song is too pretty not to be a Japanese song".

This was also Speedy West's favorite Jerry Byrd rendition. He said that on the stage of the ISGC and often asked Jerry to play it.

It is indeed a very beautiful tune and Bob did a fine job. I am sure Jerry would be proud of him. It sounds like he used Jerry's diatonic tuning and if so, he has got that tuning pretty well nailed.

May Jesus richly bless him, and all of you,

carl

Henry,
Can you re-post that as an mp3? 28 megs on a 28K dialup is pretty much a no-no for me.
Thanks

Jay

this is really nice playing. I gotta say I'm always amazed with the Hawaaian style, there are so many chords/slants/etc I have trouble remembering them in even one tuning.

again , thanks for the earful!

Very beautiful Henry. You know, Japan and Holland are famous for turning out some great "Hawaiian" steel players. It's really wonderful to hear interpretations from places like Holland. Thanx
