I am just finishing transfering and old reel to reel tape, made in 1965, in Battle Mountain, NV, of a group called The Accents.

John "Dub" Chandler, drums/bass/vocals
Howard Hill, bandleader, bass/drums/vocals
Bobby Hines, steel/saxaphone/guitar

The steel playing is fantastic, as is the singing. Dub told me that Bobby played a Fender 1000. I don't ordinarily think of a steel when it comes to "Pop" style music, (ie: Red Roses for a Blue Lady), but with this guy, it's a perfect fit.

Does anybody know what happend to Mr. Hines? (Dub said that Howard had passed away, but he didn't know about Bobby).

Thanks,
Les

That's kind of sad that a talented man such as Bobby isn't remembered today. Anyway, he was a great steel player, and a great saxaphone player, and I salute him, where ever he may be today. I wish that I could have played a tune, or two, with him.

Bobby Hines was in Casper Wyoming for a number of years, but I believe in the early 80's he moved to Denver, Co. Don't know if he is still there or not, but he is a fantastic musician on any instrument he plays. I believe he was playing on a Fender 2000 when he was in Casper, WY.
