A gentlemen in our community asked me if
Jerry Byrd and Billy Byrd are related.
I had no idea as I am of a younger generation. Anybody?

Ed, I don't know either. I have been following Jerry since 1946 and I have listened to Billy Byrd with E. Tubb many many times and this question has never surfaced before. I do believe that if it were true, we old timers would have heard something to that effect by now. Maybe the "Big E" has the answer since he himself spent a lot of time working the road with The Troubedors I am sure he would know.

ED. I met Billy at a show in Morehead, Minn years ago when he was with Cowboy Copas and I asked him that question and he said no.

Jerry has a brother who posts on here a lot by the name of Jack Byrd.....he could tell you for sure, but I don't think Billy Byrd and Jerry are related.

The answer folks is NO! I have researched our family way back into the late 1600's and haven't got out of the US to the first ones to enter the colonies. I have been working on this for over 30 years and wrote a book about our family genealogy which I had copies made for those who participated in my research and of course my siblings. I did discover a link to members of the direct line had quite a gift of music through our mothers side and it goes back quite a few generations and I belive that is where Jerry got his musical genes. None of the rest of the siblings got any that I can tell, we let him have them all.

Jack is Jerry Byrd's brother and lives in our neck of the woods in Michigan. He used to live about 2 miles down the road from my place........al

I'm sorry I repeated a question that has
apparently been asked to death. I will
do research next time.
