Just curious what everyone thinks of George Straits Steel player Mr. Mike Daily? I have never seen his name mentioned on here and just curious. Also curious if he might be a forum member and if anyone has his e-mail address? I have been listening to Georges last show from the Astrodome and just really admire his playing.

Mike is a member here. We don't hear enough from him.
I love his work. Check out the Astrodome DVD.

I was once involved in a GS Tibute, and studied it a lot. Of course most of the recordings are other great players.

I remember reading his comments on the Astrodome show here, and about how the "Ace In the Hole" band hired George.

When I was in the "Cowboy Fever" band, we open a show for GS in the Sacramento area.
Got to hang out and talk steel with Mike all afternoon. Nice guy and good player.

Here's the earlier thread to which Mike Daily of the Ace In The Hole Band responded.

Hank Williams Jr.'s steel player is a different Mike Daily, and then there's the Mike Daily (yet another guitar player) from Wilmington, NC who played in a band with me in '72-'73. Popular name among good guitar pickers, eh?

Thanks for all the nice comments etc, from all you guys. Appreciate it very much. Like everybody else, I just cant seem to find the time to enjoy hanging out here on the forum, as much as I'd like to.
All is well in Straitville, I'd guess you'd say. heading out on a short Canadian tour soon. Also had maybe one of the most awesome concerts ever amonth ago at Texas Stadium with George, Alan & Jimmy Buffet.
Also playing locally a good bit.
Thanks again--Mike D.

Mike, I have been a huge fan of the Ace in The Hole band since the '70's. You have laid down lots of great playing over the years with GS. You've been an inspiration to lots of us Texas players.
My band will be playing Gruene Hall on July 17th with The Derailers. Come on by and say howdy if you're in town.

Hey Thanks Mark. Appreciate it.
Gruene Hall--talk about one of my favorite places to play, and while we are on favorites how about the Derailers too. In fact I played with those guys for almost 2 years in 2001-2003, except when Strait was on tour. What a great band and so much fun. In fact I did a session for Brian today.
Well, Id love to make it out but I'll be out of here.
bye for now.

Hi Mike,
I saw the set list for the Strait/Buffet/Jackson concert a few weeks ago. What a dream show, with each artist doing duets in the other's set.

Bring Alan and Jimmy with you to Canada. Image

Mike, I've been a George Strait fan ever since I first heard his music and I love the steel work in every song y'all play. I've learned a lot of George Strait's songs on steel guitar. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel

Hey Mike. I have been a fan of your steelin' for a while now. I actually grew up down the street from Wes and Dawn Daily in Spring,TX. There son was a childhood friend of mine, and there always seemed to be some Strait talk when i was over there. I just started playing steel this year, i'm only 21, but your sound has influenced me for years. My Dad has played G.S. records since i can remeber. do you by chance teach at all? I live in austin and am looking to try and find some lessons. let me know and thanks alot for the music.
