I've never heard of him, and I dunno, but I'm told he exists. I'm told he was in the movie "Roadhouse"

Jeff Healey is a Toronto cat, who has a wide and varied taste in music, from rock to vintage jazz.
Although primarily noted for his guitar work (he's blind, and plays it flat on his knee) as well as his radio show "My kind of jazz" which features jazz of the 20's vintage, he is currently leading a group called the "Jazz Wizards", playing trumpet.

Yep, I had just dug out an Aug. '89 copy of GP and was re-reading the article and interview on Jeff. Dynamite Blues picker. Blinded by eye cancer in his infancy. Knocked aroung Toronto playing jazz, reggae, country, metal but focused more on R&B.
Got his first axe at 3 yrs. old. Started out using a slide [there's that word again], in open tuning 'til someone taught him taught him standard tuning, and he learned to play with it lying on his lap. He's also been known to play a double neck standing, but reaching over the neck(s) same as he did with it on his lap. Anybody hear anything about him lately? [Nevermind, I see John has an update in his post,]

He just wrote one of my very favorite songs, that's all..
I think the Other Eric (Clapton) had a hit on it.

Angel Eyes
Girl, you're lookin' fine tonight,
And every guy has got you in his sights,
What you're doin' with a clown like me,
Is surely one of life's little mysteries.
So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
How did I ever win your love,
What did I do, what did I say,
To turn your Angel Eyes my way?
Well I'm the guy who never learned to dance,
Who never even got one second chance,
Across a crowdwd room was close enough,
I could look but I could never touch.
So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
How did I ever win your love,
What did I do, what did I say,
To turn your Angel Eyes my way?
Don't anyone wake me if it's just a dream,
Aw - she's the best thing that ever happened to me,
All you fellows, you can look all your life,
But this girl you see is leavin' here with me tonight.
There's just one more thing I need to know,
If this is love why does it scare me so?
Must be something only you could see,
'Cause girl I feel it when you look at me.
So tonight I'll ask the stars above,
How did I ever win your love,
What did I do, what did I say,
To turn your Angel Eyes my way?

Jeff now owns a night club in Toronto.
He's not a Steeler, he's a Blues/Rock guitarist, with a passion for older Jazz. His favorite records are a collection of Louie Armstrong 78s.
