If you haven't had the hair stand up on the back of your neck yet today find yourself a song called 'I'm Leaving You for Me' by Lisa Brokop. I don't know who the steel player is but it is just sublime. I heard the song on the car radio last night and couldn't wait to get home and track down the player. But I haven't found out who it is. Could it be one of our own great Canadian player's? I bet Joey Ace knows. Joey?
It is also worth mentioning that Lisa Brokop, while not quite as well known as Shania Twain and Terry Clark, is a great singer from this side of the border. She's also cute as a button. |

If it makes your hair stand up on the back of your neck; it has to be Bob Lucier!!!
Is my guess without even hearing it. But if you were to put a clip up; I can tell you for sure in a second.

Well they certainly could of added reverb/delay to it….and certainly sounds like a wood guitar “Fulawka or Sho~bud”…..but it wasn’t anything extraordinarily played; that would make me think Lucier; just some sweet sounding nice stuff…..>So I’m not firm on who it may be> sorry.

Lisa B. has been one of my favorites for years. We don't hear enough from her down this way though.

Well I agree there's nothing at all flashy about the playing on this cut. But for me it's a wonderful demonstration of how you can use relatively few notes or licks to maximum advantage in order to compliment the singer. Whoever it is actually sits out a fair portion of the song but the playing is really tasteful and flawlessly executed. And there's the tone, which is just amazing to my ear. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job of that song. [This message was edited by Bill Miller on 11 July 2004 at 07:41 AM.] |
