I'll be going to see Dale Watson at the Tin Angel in Philly this Saturday night. Anybody know if he is travelling with a steeler? |

Don Pawlak is Dale's steeler. Nice guy and a fine player.

Yep, Don's the steel player and now Dale has another Don on fiddle. My old pal Don Raby is touring with Dale. Don is a wonderful player and great person.

Thanks, guys. Good steel and fiddle are rare in these parts. Looks like I'll be down front, grinning from ear t' ear. |

I thought I saw something on Dales' website that said Don wouldn't be touring with Dale anymore. I actually shot Dale an email saying that if he needed a west coast steeler I would be honored to give it a go. Not too much music being made today that would be as satisfying to play as Mr. Watsons'.
I"ve seen Dale with Ricky and, more recently, with Don. Both Great steelers. I'm interested to see who comes next!
There are so many talented players in Austinland........... I learn more about my instrument in one week there than I do in six months here in L.A.
Anyway, if anyone there wants to pass on my info to ol' Dale about the west coast thing, it'd be much appreciated, but I'm sure he'll end up with another great player from Austin.
Cheers,
Jordan

Not to burst the old bubble, but the guy leaving the road with Dale is Donnie Knutsen, his erstwhile road manager. The band of Pawlak, Raby, Kurtz, and the drummer continue on.

Yeah, even if Dales' steeler left, I think I need a little more work before I could really take on tryng to fill shoes such as yours and Rickys'(and everyone else that has played with him).
My philosophy, however, is to always strive for a couple steps ahead of what I think I'm capable of, and grow into it. Fear of being outclassed has never got me anywhere, and sometimes I amaze myself............Of course sometimes I fall flat on my a$$ too, but I would rather go down trying.
Anyway, I'll just keep practicing and let the man upstairs take care of puttin' me where I'm supposed to be.
Thanks Herb,
Jordan |

My band the Uptown Plowboys will be opening for Dale and the band in New Orleans, at the Mermaid Lounge. If you need anything, let me know. Do you know the bands website? |
